Car Plunges Off Westbound SR-60, Driver Unharmed

A white Scion lost control and careened 50 feet down an embankment amid afternoon traffic.

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A sedan plunged down an embankment and overturned alongside the Pomona (60) Freeway in Jurupa Valley Wednesday, leaving the driver with minor injuries.

The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m. on the westbound freeway at Valley Way, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said the white Scion went out of control and veered off the freeway, traveling 50 feet down the embankment and rolling over into a ditch.

No other vehicles were involved.

The motorist, whose identity was not disclosed, was able to extricate himself by the time Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location.

The victim suffered unspecified minor injuries, and an ambulance was summoned. However, the man declined to be taken to a hospital, according to reports from the scene.

No lanes were shut down as a result of the crash, which was under investigation.
