CHP's San Gorgonio Pass Area Office Holding DUI Checkpoint
The checkpoint will operate from 8 p.m. Friday, June 21, until 2 a.m. Saturday, June 22.

SAN GORGONIO PASS AREA, CA — The California Highway Patrol San Gorgonio Pass Area office announced it will hold a DUI checkpoint beginning Friday night.
The checkpoint will operate in an undisclosed unincorporated area from 8 p.m. Friday, June 21, until 2 a.m. Saturday, June 22, the agency reported.
The CHP San Gorgonio Pass Area office has traffic management responsibilities for more than 860 square miles of Riverside County and encompasses the communities of Banning, Beaumont, Cabazon, Hemet, San Jacinto and Winchester.

"The sobriety checkpoint will be staffed by CHP Officers who are trained in the detection of alcohol and/or drug-impaired drivers. Officers will also be equipped with state-of-the-art hand-held breath testing devices, which provide an accurate measure of blood-alcohol concentration of suspected drunk drivers," according to the agency.
Offenders will be processed at the checkpoint and booked at either the Southwest Detention Facility or the Larry D. Smith Detention Facility, the CHP reported.

Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
