City of Beaumont and Church for Family Tout Trunk or Treat Oct. 31 at Sports Park

City of Beaumont and Church for Family officials are touting a Trunk or Treat event Thursday at Beaumont Sports Park.

The event will be free and it's scheduled 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the sports park at Brookside Avenue and Beaumont Avenue, City of Beaumont and Church for Family officials said.

"Trunk-or-treating is the latest twist on the tradition of door-to-door candy-collecting," organizers said. "Instead of collecting candy from the neighborhood,
children collect candy from the trunks of vehicles parked safely in a parking  lot.

"This new trend has become a safe alternative for parents who wish to keep a watchful eye on their children. This event turns the backs of mini-vans and SUVs, bed of a truck or car trunk into the new front porch."

Anyone who wants to host a trunk at the event may call Cpl. Combado or Officer Greer at (951) 769-8500 to reserve space.
