Crash Scene Investigation Uncovers Victim With Fatal Gunshot Wounds

The crash was reported at approximately 7:20 p.m. Sunday in the 13000 block of Leota Court in Moreno Valley.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — Authorities Monday were investigating the death of a man who was found with gunshot wounds in Moreno Valley.

Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station deputies responded to a report of a major traffic collision at approximately 7:20 p.m. Sunday in the 13000 block of Leota Court, according to a Riverside County Sheriff's Department statement.

When they arrived, they discovered a "deceased male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds," according to the statement. After securing the scene and closing the area, the Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit took over the investigation, sheriff's officials said.

The man's identity had not been released as of Monday morning, according to the statement.
