13-Acre Bluff Fire Near Banning Reaches Full Containment
The Bluff Fire broke out more than a week after the 2,387-acre Wolf Fire erupted in the Banning area and forced evacuations.

BANNING, CA — A 13-acre brush fire that broke out Monday in Banning has been extinguished.
The non-injury blaze erupted shortly before 12:45 p.m. Monday at Bluff Street, north of Mias Canyon Road, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
At the time, the fire department reported, "Firefighters are on-scene of two acres burning in the canyon at a moderate rate of spread."

As of 3:50 p.m., the forward rate of spread on the blaze — dubbed the Bluff Fire — was stopped, according to the fire department. By 7 p.m., the agency said the blaze was fully contained.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

The Wolf Fire sparked on June 29 at Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail. As of Monday evening, it was 95% contained. All evacuations were lifted. The cause of the fire is also under investigation.
