Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting In Beaumont Reported

The incident stemmed from a domestic violence call, police say.

BEAUMONT, CA — A man was shot and killed after an encounter with Beaumont police on Friday night, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reports. The man, who has not yet been publicly identified was “armed with one or two knives,” according to the agency.

It all started around 6:30 p.m., when authorities were called to a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue, according to Dep. Mike Vasquez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

When police got to the scene, they encountered a man armed with a knife and the shooting occurred, he said.

One officer fired a weapon, Vasquez.

Per the Beaumont Police Department’s standard operating procedure, the Sheriff’s department responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
