Deadly Banning Shooting Blamed On Juvenile; 1 Killed, 1 Wounded

BANNING, CA — A juvenile is suspected in a Banning shooting early Monday morning that left an 18-year-old man dead and a minor wounded.

The shooting was reported around 12:30 a.m. in the 700 block of N. Hargrave Street. Officers arrived at the scene and found 18-year-old Darnell Lovings of Banning down on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, Lovings died at the scene, according to Banning police.

A second victim suffered non-life-threatening wounds and was treated for his injuries at a local hospital, police said. Due to his age, his identity was not released.

Investigators identified a suspect, but his identity was also withheld due to his age. The juvenile was booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, police said.

No other suspects are sought in the case.
