Escaped Inmate From Riverside County Found In Los Angeles

Accused of attempted murder, Deshaun Stamps of Riverside slipped away from a San Bernardino County jail on Sunday.

INLAND EMPIRE, CA — An inmate accused of attempted murder was found after escaping over the weekend from an Inland Empire jail facility, authorities announced.

Deshaun Stamps, 39, of Riverside was found Monday in Los Angeles by LAPD officers.

At about 12:19 p.m. Sunday, deputies at Rancho Cucamonga's West Valley Detention Center discovered Stamps' escape from an outside recreation area. He had been in custody since January 30, 2023.

There was no word on where or how he was found.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department had issued a public plea for help finding Stamps. After his capture, the agency sent out a message of gratitude.

"We extend our thanks to the Los Angeles Police Department and the public for their assistance in locating Deshaun Stamps," the sheriff's department said.

The sheriff's department was working with the LAPD to take custody of Stamps.
