Extreme Heat Forecast For RivCo This Week
An excessive heat warning will take effect in some areas Tuesday morning, with most of Riverside County expected to hit the triple digits.
RIVERSIDE, CA — Forecasters predict extreme heat with temperatures well into the triple digits in Riverside County this week, according to the National Weather Service.
An excessive heat warning was issued for Palm Springs and Coachella effective from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Sunday, while a heat advisory was issued for the areas of downtown Riverside, Hemet and Temecula for the same duration.
Monday's high temperatures were expected to reach 110 in Coachella and Palm Springs, 99 in Hemet, 95 in downtown Riverside and 85 in Temecula.

On Tuesday, temperatures will increase by two to five degrees as the heat warnings come into effect.
Temperatures will continue rising through the remainder of the week and into the weekend.

On Thursday, most of Riverside County will be over 100 degrees with the exception of Temecula at 92 degrees, forecasters said.
"Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening," the NWS advised.
The agency also cautioned that children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Extreme heat can significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities, according to the NWS.
Saturday is shaping up to be the hottest day of the week, with temperatures reaching 119 in Coachella and Palm Springs, 109 in Hemet, 102 in downtown Riverside and 94 in Temecula.
