Family Dog Stabbed In Banning, Woman Suspected Of Animal Cruelty

BANNING, CA — A woman who allegedly stabbed a dog over the weekend in Banning was behind bars Monday on a felony booking charge of animal cruelty.
Natasha Serrano, 34, was arrested in Ontario after fleeing the stabbing that was reported at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in Banning's 700 block of W. Gilman Street, according to the Banning Police Department.
Witnesses told Banning police that Serrano stabbed "the family dog" and then took off in a vehicle. The police department alerted local law enforcement agencies about Serrano and less than two hours later the Ontario Police Department notified Banning PD that its officers detained her.

Banning police picked up Serrano and booked her into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility. She is being held on $10,000 bail.
The dog’s owner sought veterinary treatment for the animal. An update on the canine's condition was not available.
