Father, Teen Son Found Dead In Inland Empire Wash

The coroner determined the father died by suicide. The cause of death for the 14-year-old boy is still under investigation.

ADELANTO, CA — The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate the deaths last week of a father and son in the high desert.

The bodies of Michael Williams, 35, and his yet-to-be-publicly-identified 14-year-old son were found at approximately 6:15 p.m. Thursday in a wash near Pershing Drive and Montrose Way in Adelanto. Both were Barstow residents.

Sheriff's deputies had responded to the area based on a "man down" call.

The sheriff's department determined that Williams and his son were suffering from gunshot wounds, and a firearm was found at the scene.

It's unclear how long the bodies had been in the location.

"Both decedents were transported to the Coroner’s Office where it was determined Williams died by suicide," the sheriff's department reported. "Investigators are still working to determine a cause of death for the juvenile."
