Fiery Crash Briefly Blocks I-10 In Yucaipa, CHP Says

UPDATED: All eastbound lanes of traffic headed into Beaumont were blocked by the wreck for about an hour.

UPDATE 2:50 p.m.: Caltrans reports that all lanes have been reopened, though motorists should still expect some residual delays.

YUCAIPA, CA — Major delays were reported headed into Beaumont on Monday afternoon after crash prompted officials to close all eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in the Yucaipa and Calimesa areas. The wreck was reported at 1:27 p.m. near the Wildwood Rest area, just west of the county line.

Preliminary reports indicate that three vehicles were involved in the collision, with at least one of them catching fire. By 1:45 p.m., all lanes of eastbound traffic were stopped and the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, reports showed.

Caltrans reported the eastbound closure at 1:50 p.m. and issued a sig alert. Traffic reports indicated a backup into Redlands.
