BEAUMONT, CA — A fire broke out Thursday in a field south of Interstate 10 in Beaumont, burning a quarter-acre before crews got it partially contained.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Third Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Four engine crews encountered flames moving slowly through high grass and weeds but made progress in encircling the blaze, which was not in the immediate vicinity of homes or other structures, according to reports from the scene.
