Fire Breaks Out Near San Timoteo Canyon

UPDATED: Dubbed the Beaumont Fire, officials say the blaze burned through vegetation.

REDLANDS, CA — Firefighters responded Monday morning to a brush fire burning in the San Timoteo Canyon area. The blaze was first reported around 8:30 a.m. in the area of San Timoteo Canyon Road and Beaumont Avenue and was dubbed the Beaumont Fire.

Crews from the Redlands Fire Department, the Loma Linda Fire Department and Cal Fire San Bernardino all responded to the scene and encountered flames burning through vegetation at a "moderate rate," according to Redland fire officials.

The forward rate of spread of the fire was stopped around 10:15 a.m.

Initial estimates indicated the fire burned approximately 20 acres, but fire officials later updated that number to just over 11 acres.

As of 11 a.m., the fire was considered 25 percent contained and crews were expected to remain at the scene for mop up.

The Redlands Fire Department said the fire burned away from that city.
