Fire Consumes Big Rig Adjacent To I-215 In Riverside
Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to surrounding vegetation.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A tractor-trailer that caught fire Thursday adjacent to UC Riverside was significantly damaged, but firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:20 a.m. Thursday in a parking lot on Everton Place, below the southbound overpass of Interstate 215, near the entrance to UCR, according to the Riverside Fire Department.
The agency stated that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and found the big rig "fully involved" with fire.

Crews extinguished the flames a short time later. The fire was declared under control at 11:45 a.m., according to reports from the scene.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
