Fire Injures 1, Displaces 6 At Apartment Complex In RivCo

One person was taken to an area hospital as a result of the blaze, which tore through the building.

RIVERSIDE, CA — Six people were displaced and one was injured in a fire that tore through an apartment complex in Riverside on Tuesday, fire officials said.

At 3:11 p.m., firefighters from the Riverside Fire Department were sent to the Mission Villa Apartments at 200 E. Alessandro Blvd., where residents were already evacuating from the large blaze.

Crews held the fire within four apartment units while they searched for other trapped occupants. During the firefight, one person suffering from smoke inhalation was taken to a local hospital, the department said.

Due to the number of apartment units on fire, the city's emergency operations bureau also arrived to help displaced residents.

While the fire remains under investigation, fire officials said it appeared to be set accidentally. No firefighters or additional injuries were reported and the Red Cross was notified to help displaced residents.
