Firefighter Injured Battling RivCo House Fire
An attic fire began in this Moreno Valley home midday Wednesday, sending a plume of smoke skyward.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A fire that erupted Wednesday in the attic of a Moreno Valley home caused damage and left a firefighter injured but was stopped before spreading throughout the property.
The blaze was reported at about 12:15 p.m. in the 12100 block of Leif Erickson Drive, near Vespucci Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered smoke rising from the attic of the single-story residence.

Firefighters mounted a containment effort inside and outside the house, knocking down the flames less than a half-hour later.
One firefighter suffered minor unspecified injuries, according to reports from the scene. He was taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center for treatment.
