Firefighters Aid Hiker Injured Behind Moreno Valley College Campus
Multiple crews responded to the call to aid a person who injured their leg while hiking the hills behind the Riverside County college.

MORENO VALLEY, CA —A hiker climbing hills Thursday near the campus of Moreno Valley College was injured after taking a fall, requiring firefighters to rescue him.
The "hiker down" call was received at 12:10 p.m. in the area Krameria Avenue and Parkside Drive, on the back side of the campus, near the boundary of the Lake Perris State Recreation Area, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and discovered the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, stranded on a trail.

The hiker had suffered a lower leg injury that made walking difficult, according to reports from the scene.
Crews loaded the victim onto a backboard to carry him down the hill. The rescue operation was still underway as of 12:45 p.m.

An ambulance was called to the staging area, and it was expected to transport the victim to nearby Riverside University Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
