Firefighters Quell Suspicious Hillside Fire in Riverside
Officials called the one acre, second-alarm hillside vegetation fire "suspicious."
RIVERSIDE, CA — Firefighters Sunday knocked down what officials said was a suspicious second-alarm hillside vegetation fire that burned approximately one acre in Riverside.
Firefighters were dispatched at 2:17 a.m. to a hillside north of the intersection of Central Avenue and Lochmoor Street and reported the fire was spreading at a ``moderate" rate, the Riverside County Fire Department reported.
The fire was controlled at 2:45 a.m. City and county firefighters remained on the scene for about two hours to completely contain the fire.

``The fire is suspicious in nature due to its location further up the hillside," according to a news statement. ``There were no injuries and no property damage during the incident."
