Gilman Fire Burns South Of Pass Area
The blaze, dubbed the Gilman Fire, was reported just after 11 a.m. Thursday in the area of Gilman Hot Springs and Soboba roads.
SAN JACINTO, CA — A brush fire that erupted Thursday just north of San Jacinto burned just over 4 acres along the boundary of the San Bernardino National Forest before it was contained.
The blaze was reported at 11:05 a.m. Thursday in the area of Gilman Hot Springs and Soboba roads, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine and hand crews from the county and U.S. Forest Service were sent to the location and encountered flames moving uphill at a moderate rate, not threatening homes or other structures.

Three Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter based at Hemet-Ryan Airport less than 10 miles to the west were summoned and promptly initiated runs on the brusher, bringing its forward rate of spread to a halt at noon.
The blaze was fully contained an hour later.

One firefighter suffered a minor knee injury while digging fire breaks. He was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center for treatment and was released shortly after 1 p.m., according to officials at the scene.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
