Gladys Knight Set For Riverside County Performance

Tickets for the Dec. 17 show at Indio's Fantasy Springs Resort Casino go on sale Friday.

INDIO, CA — Gladys Knight, one of the most enduring artists of all time, will be performing in Riverside County, it was announced Wednesday.

The seven-time Grammy Award-winner — best known for classics like “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “I Heard it Through the Grapevine,” and “If I Were Your Woman” — is returning to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino’s Special Events Center at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via phone at 800-827-2946, and online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com. Ticket prices start at $49.

Now 78, Knight's career spans back to her 1950s childhood in Georgia where she blossomed into a solid hitmaker during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with her group The Pips. She continued post-Pips in partnerships and solo ventures including a 1994 pairing with Stevie Wonder for the successful Frank Sinatra Duets II album, joining his voice on “For Once in My Life.”

In total, Knight has recorded more than 38 albums throughout her career, including her most recent solo album, Where My Heart Belongs, released in 2014.

Knight is an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as the Vocal Group Hall of Famealong with The Pips. Two of her songs ("I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Midnight Train to Georgia") were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for "historical, artistic and significant" value.

Rolling Stone magazine placed Knight at No. 51 on its list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
