Good Samaritan Suffers Burns In Redlands House Fire

The victim was sent to a local hospital.

REDLANDS, CA — A good Samaritan who tried to douse a house fire in Redlands was sent to a local hospital with burns, the city announced Monday.

The blaze was reported around 10 a.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Powell Lane.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found "a well-established fire to the rear of the two-story home," according to the city.

Firefighters knocked down the blaze in approximately 15 minutes, and all the home's residents were safely evacuated. However, the good Samaritan who attempted to extinguish the flames did not escape unhurt, according to the city.

An update on the victim's medical condition was unavailable.

After the fire was out, crews remained at the scene for approximately two hours to mop up. Damage from the blaze is estimated at $250,000, according to the city.

In addition to city of Redlands firefighters, crews from Cal Fire/San Bernardino County Fire Department also responded to the blaze.
