RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A 21-year-old probationer and his girlfriend pleaded guilty Thursday to armed robbery for holding up a couple at a Riverside motel, resulting in the convicted felon being immediately sentenced to 13 years in state prison.

Eric David Anderson of Hemet admitted the robbery charge, along with a sentence-enhancing gun use allegation, under a plea agreement with the Riverside County District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors dropped a related felony count in exchange for his admission.

Jasmine Roxie Boyd, 20, of Rialto also pleaded guilty to armed robbery as part of a bargain with prosecutors.

Superior Court Judge Gail O'Rane imposed the sentence on Anderson stipulated by the prosecution and defense. She postponed Boyd's sentencing to Feb. 17 at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

Boyd is free on a $60,000 bond.

According to Riverside Police Department Officer Ryan Railsback, Anderson and Boyd forced their way into a motel room in the 10600 block of Magnolia Avenue, near Nye Avenue, about 1 a.m. on April 27, 2021, and held the victims at gunpoint while they ransacked the room.

The robbery was over in minutes, and no one was injured, Railsback said.

Railsback did not disclose what was stolen. The victims' names were withheld.

Detectives identified Boyd as one of the bandits within a week and arrested her without incident on West Street in Rialto on May 4.
Property taken during the holdup and other evidence was seized from Boyd's apartment, Railsback said.

Further investigation eventually led to Anderson, who was taken into custody without a struggle on Vineyard Street in Ontario on May 25.

Anderson has prior convictions for felony burglary, according to court records. Boyd had no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
