Highland Man Struck, Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Riverside
Hassan Qureshi, 33, of Highland was in a marked crosswalk when Jesus Rodriguez's Honda allegedly plowed into him at an undetermined speed.
RIVERSIDE, CA — A motorist suspected of fatally striking a 33-year-old pedestrian at a Riverside intersection while driving under the influence and then fleeing the scene was behind bars Monday.
Jesus Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on Sunday night on suspicion of DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run resulting in death. Bail information was not immediately available.
Rodriguez allegedly killed Hassan Qureshi of Highland.

According to Riverside police Sgt. James Elliott, shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday, the suspect was driving his Honda Civic eastbound on University Avenue, entering the intersection at Main Street, when Qureshi attempted to cross University.
Elliott said the victim was in a marked crosswalk when Rodriguez's Honda allegedly plowed into him at an undetermined speed.

The suspect immediately fled the location, the sergeant alleged.
Qureshi was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died less than an hour later.
With assistance of Riverside County sheriff's deputies, Rodriguez was identified and tracked to a residence in San Jacinto, where he was taken into custody without incident, according to Elliott.
