House Fire Ignites In RivCo, Family Flees Home
The Riverside Fire Department halted the spread of the Yellowstone Drive house fire before the home was destroyed.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A house fire in Riverside was halted before spreading to the inside of the home, the Riverside Fire Department shared.
The blaze began in the garage of the home in the 6900 block of Yellowstone Drive near Arlington Avenue, they said. The non-injury blaze was reported at 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 6900 block of Yellowstone Drive, near Arlington Avenue, according to the Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Richmond.
Two engine crews and two ladder truck companies, numbering 17 personnel, were sent to the single-story residence and encountered flames raging in the attached garage.

"Crews initiated an attack inside the garage and then confirmed no fire extension into the house," Richmond said. "The occupants had exited the structure before our arrival, but a primary search was completed nonetheless."
No one was exposed to the flames, which firefighters knocked down within 20 minutes, he said.

Although there was extensive damage to the garage, the rest of the property was not impacted.
Richmond said the cause of the fire appeared to be "accidental in nature," but the specific ignition source wasn't immediately identified.
