Human Remains Found Near Whitewater Area, RivCo Coroner Confirms

An investigation has been launched into human remains discovered near a Whitewater neighborhood.

WHITEWATER, CA — The Riverside County Coroner's Bureau has confirmed that human remains were discovered northeast of Whitewater late Monday. An investigation has been launched to determine the identity of the remains and their origin, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Shortly before 9 p.m., deputies arrived at the area of Esparta Avenue and Salton View Road upon learning of the report of possible remains, according to Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez.

The Coroner's Bureau confirmed the discovery was human, Brito-Gonzalez said.

The area is residential and rural, and it was not immediately clear how the remains were discovered or how old the site was. Patch will update this report when that information is received.
