Human Skull Found By Hunter In Big Bear
A subsequent search of the area turned up more remains, authorities said.

BIG BEAR, CA — Authorities are working to determine the identity of the person whose remains were found over the weekend in Big Bear.
Investigators are also trying to figure out how the decedent died.
The case unfurled at about 3:03 p.m. Saturday when the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department received a call about a human skull found in the area of Smarts Rancho Road, north of Cactus Flats, near Big Bear.

A hunter discovered the skull and contacted authorities, according to the sheriff's department.
Deputies cordoned off the area, and on Sunday, the coroner, along with sheriff's investigators, searched the area and found "additional remains," the sheriff's department reported.

There was no word on a possible identity or cause/manner of death. An autopsy is being conducted, the sheriff's department said.
