IE Police Respond To Shooting Involving Homeland Security Officers

The shooting was reported in a residential neighborhood in the Inland Empire as a person was taken into custody.

ONTARIO, CA — A shooting that unfolded in a residential neighborhood in Ontario on Thursday in San Bernardino County involved Department of Homeland Security officers, officials said.

Police were sent at 6:33 a.m. in the 2800 block of South Vineyard Avenue, Detective M Williams of the Ontario Police Department told Patch, adding that its officers were not involved in the shooting.

Officers were on scene to provide traffic control and security while federal officers conducted an investigation. Homeland Security and the FBI are investigating the shooting.

Thursday's shooting in San Bernardino County comes after another shooting incident involving federal immigration officers was reported last week in Los Angeles County.

One person was seen being taken into custody, ABC7 reported.

Video from the station showed a sedan blocked in by an unmarked SUV and a pickup truck in a mobile home park that is in a neighborhood west of the Whispering Lakes Golf Course.

No other details about injuries or arrests were available.

Homeland Security did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment.
