Illegal Marijuana Grow Raided By Police In Banning: SEE PHOTOS

The city does allow permitted cannabis businesses​ but the John Street grow was operating under the radar, according to police.

BANNING, CA — Approximately 5,000 marijuana plants with a street value of about $3.75 million were discovered in Banning this week, police announced.

The cannabis grow was located in the 200 block of John Street, near Interstate 10, according to the Banning Police Department.

It's not immediately clear how police learned of the operation, but the department reported it received information about the grow on Tuesday. The agency announced Thursday it had raided the operation.

In addition to Banning police, the city's Fire Marshal and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department were involved in the investigation.
