Yucaipa Mom Arrested After Kids Found In 'Filthy' Home

YUCAIPA, CA -- An Inland Empire mother was arrested after her three children were found last week living in a "filthy" home with loose live wires hanging from an electrical box and items covering the floors. Yucaipa police said Marcella Lafayette, 29, was arrested for felony child endangerment and possession for sales of narcotics charges.

Yucaipa police said they were called to Lafayette's home in the 12900 block of 5th Street on Dec. 29. Accompanied by social workers, they found three children, between the ages of 6 and 12, "home alone living in a filthy residence that had food, clothing and items covering the floors."

Lafayette and her boyfriend, Michael Cantwell, arrived a short time later. They were then arrested.

Police said Cantwell was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
