A 26-year-old motorist was killed when he crashed into a construction crane in Riverside Sunday.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A 26-year-old motorist was killed when he crashed into a construction crane in Riverside Sunday.

The crash occurred just after midnight at Howard Avenue and Tenth Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Investigators said the victim was driving north on Howard Avenue in a 2005 Toyota Camry when he struck a parked construction boom-lift crane.

First responders found the Riverside man unresponsive inside the vehicle with major injuries and later pronounced him dead, police said.

Authorities said it was unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors to the crash.

The identity of the driver was withheld pending notification of his family.
