Mass Overdose Suspected Inside RivCo Home: 1 Dead, 3 Hospitalized

One person died while paramedics rushed three other men to a hospital, authorities said.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A man was pronounced dead at the scene and three other men were rushed to a hospital from what appears to been a mass overdose at a home in Moreno Valley, authorities said Sunday.

"Early findings would indicate drugs are a factor in the death and we do not suspect foul play," said Riverside County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Sean Liebrand.

Deputies dispatched at about 7:35 p.m. on Saturday to the 23800 block of Elyce Court reported a man dead at the scene. Deputies also located three additional men suffering from injuries, Liebrand said.

Paramedics rushed three men with non-life-threatening injuries, to a hospital, he said.

The case was immediately assumed by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Overdose Death Investigations and Narcotics Unit, according to Liebrand.

In a news release about the incident, the sheriff's department warned, "The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department wants to remind citizens of the dangers of illicit narcotics, many of which may contain Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 100 times stronger than morphine and can cause death or serious bodily harm."

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department urged anyone with any information regarding the incident to call 951-955-1700.
