RIVERSIDE, CA — A man was fatally shot Monday in downtown Riverside, but there was no word on whether the investigation had netted any potential suspects.
The attack was reported sometime between 4 and 5 a.m. Monday in the area of Orange and Poplar streets, about a block from the Riverside Salvation Army headquarters, according to the Riverside Police Department.
The agency said patrol officers were sent to investigate reports of a shooting and found the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, mortally wounded.

He was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died Monday morning.
A possible motive was not disclosed, and it was unknown whether Robbery-Homicide Unit detectives had developed any leads regarding the shooter's identity.
