Missing Man Found Dead In San Bernardino National Forest

His remains were hoisted out of the remote area and transported to the coroner. An autopsy will determine a cause of death.

CRESTLINE, CA — An Inland Empire man reported missing earlier this month was found dead in the San Bernardino National Forest, according to authorities.

On January 20, San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies were called to a Crestline home regarding the disappearance of 55-year-old Christian Alan Petrie. The Crestline man was last seen in the community on January 14 but his family had not heard from him since, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

During a Jan. 23 sheriff’s department’s search-and-rescue effort, Petrie's body was found in the forest near Mormon Springs Road and state Highway 138 in Crestline. His remains were hoisted out of the remote area and transported to the coroner’s office. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, according to the sheriff's department.
