'Mobile Career Center' On The Move In San Jacinto

The mobile unit will visit schools and job fairs, participate in community parades and provide community workshops.

SAN JACINTO, CA — Mt. San Jacinto Community College's "Mobile Career Center" -- an RV loaded with resources to help job seekers -- will be making its first appearance on the San Jacinto campus Thursday, showcasing hardware and the experts available to assist area residents.

"The Mobile Career Center ... enables us to send our knowledgeable resources out into our communities to help people further their education, or prepare to land their next job," Mt. San Jacinto College Dean of Instruction Joyce Johnson said. "We will be there to help them succeed and thrive in today's workforce."

The RV was opened for tours Tuesday at the Menifee Valley satellite campus. But the big debut will be Thursday near the front of the main campus at 1499 N. State St., according to campus officials.

Johnson said the wheeled career center features 14 computer stations, where users can conduct searches and burnish resumes. Staff will be on hand to lend assistance with finding information and preparing for interviews.

The mobile unit will visit schools and job fairs, participate in community parades and provide community workshops, according to a campus statement that says college officials "will collaborate with local agencies, such as the Economic Development Coalition-Southwest Riverside, to attend various regional conferences, meetings and trade shows."
