Motorist Killed In Whitewater I-10 Crash

The wreck was reported Friday afternoon along eastbound Interstate 10 near Haugen Lehmann Way.

WHITEWATER, CA — At least one person died in a solo-vehicle collision on Interstate 10 near Whitewater Friday.

Officers responded around 2:40 p.m. Friday to eastbound Interstate 10 near Haugen Lehmann Way to a report of a dark SUV vehicle on the right side of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A black Ford Explorer was believed to have gone airborne and rolled over before landing upright on the right hand side, according to the CHP. At least one person died and a coroner was called to the scene at 3:11 p.m.

All lanes remained open, though the Haugen Lehman Way off-ramp was closed.

The cause of the collision was not immediately known.
