Mysterious Possible Beaumont Stabbing, Thefts & More: BPD Blotter

BEAUMONT, CA — Here are the most recent arrest logs, reports, and updates, as provided by the Beaumont Police Department on Friday:

On May 22, 2019, at approximately 11:44 am, Beaumont Police officers responded to the 700 block of Targa Lane in reference to a stolen vehicle. The caller reported observing an unknown subject enter the neighbor’s yard and drive off with a 2015 Can-Am Maverick Utility Vehicle. The driver was last seen heading Eastbound on Potrero Blvd. A search of the area was conducted, but officers were unable to locate the UTV. The property owner was contacted and informed officers the UTV was in fact stolen. This case is still under investigation.

On May 24, 2019, the Beaumont Police Department received a report of theft of construction materials from the area of Goalby and Lyle. An employee for the project reported someone had entered into the construction site overnight and stolen approximately $1,500 in materials. This case is still under investigation.

On May 25, 2019, at approximately 2:58 pm, Beaumont Police Department received a call reporting a subject breaking a vehicle window in the 400 block of Avenue B. Shortly thereafter, the subject was seen leaving the area in a green Ford Expedition. Officers responded to the area and quickly located the subject driving a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses. It was revealed this vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day in the City of Beaumont. Nicolas Corlis, age 25, of Beaumont, was arrested for grand theft auto and vandalism. Corlis was booked into Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

On May 25, 2019, at approximately 7:32 am, the Beaumont Police Department received a 911 call in reference to a report of an injured subject. The caller reported locating a family friend outside of her residence suffering from several injuries. The victim told officers he had been in the location of the 100 block of E. 8th Street the night before and woke up injured. Officers went to the location and located a knife, drops of blood and illegal drugs. Officers also located a witness who reported finding the victim injured at the location the night before. The witness was unsure how the victim was injured but told officers the victim stated he had fallen from the ledge of the library. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for moderate injuries. This case is still under investigation.

On May 26, 2019, at approximately 11:46 pm, the Beaumont Police Department received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of W. 4th Street. The reporting party, an employee of the location, observed a GMC Sierra pickup in the parking lot. The employee had contacted the individuals and requested that they leave the location. The parties left the parking lot and traveled down an access road close to the business. When officers arrived, the suspicious vehicle was found, unoccupied and stuck in the mud. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the subjects. While waiting for the tow truck, two subjects approached the officers and claimed they had been in the area looking for their lost dog.

A records check revealed both subjects were from the City of Calimesa and one was on parole for robbery. The vehicle was towed and the subjects were moved on from the area.

On May 27, 2019, the Beaumont Police Department received a call from a resident in the area of Sitara Avenue and Leslie Street in reference to a residential burglary. The resident informed dispatchers an intruder entered the home and was being detained at gunpoint by an off-duty officer, who resided in the home.

Beaumont Police officers arrived on scene and determined that the female intruder, identified as Marie Modesto, age 36, of Yucaipa, entered the home through an unlocked door and was quickly detained by the off-duty officer. Modesto also had suspected drugs in her possession. She was arrested for trespassing and possession of a controlled substance, then booked into Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

On May 29, 2019, at approximately 7:26 am, the Beaumont Police Department responded to the 1600 block of E. 6th Street in regard to a commercial burglary. A business owner found her business had been broken into and drywall had been removed allowing access to the adjacent business next door. The adjacent business owner responded to the scene and reported miscellaneous medications and some cash had been taken from the business. This case is still under investigation.

On May 29, 2019, at approximately 11:11am, the Beaumont Police Department responded to the 700 block of Hillview Street in regard to a residential burglary. The victim returned home to find her residence ransacked and miscellaneous items missing. This case is still under investigation.
