One Person Found Deceased in Residential Fire in Green Acres West of Hemet

Fire destroyed a single-wide manufactured home and one person was found deceased in the ruins, in Green Acres west of Hemet, according to Cal Fire.

Cal Fire-Riverside County reported one fatality and the person's gender and age were unknown. A coroner's representative would not elaborate in a phone interview just before 7 p.m. Sept. 5.


The fire was reported at 8:33 a.m. in the 33600 block of El Centro Avenue, southeast of the SR 74 and SR 79 junction, Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire said in a statement.

"Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire," Hendrickson said. "The first arriving engine company reported smoke showing from the exterior of a single-wide manufactured home."

More than 20 firefighters were on scene and the fire was declared contained at 8:55 a.m., Hendrickson said. The structure was completely destroyed and the deceased person was discovered. The cause of the fire was being investigated.

Agencies that responded included the County Fire Hazardous Materials Support Unit, the Sheriff's Department and Southern California Edison.
