Ontario Woman ID'd As Victim Struck By Big Rig Near Whitewater
The woman's vehicle was disabled at the time of the fatal crash, which occurred just after midnight, officials say.
WHITEWATER, CA — The Riverside County Coroner's Bureau identified a 40-year-old woman as the victim struck and killed in a collision with a big rig truck Thursday.
Dianna Bocanegra died shortly after the midnight crash on eastbound I-10 west of Haugen-Lehmann Way, according to the coroner's report.
The California Highway Patrol stated Bocanegra was driving eastbound on Interstate 10 in a Volkswagen Jetta when, for reasons unknown, she crashed into a concrete guardrail, which left her vehicle disabled in the third and fourth lanes.

A short time later, a 22-year-old Imperial County man at the wheel of a Peterbilt rig struck the left side of the Jetta.
Paramedics pronounced Bocanegra dead at the scene.

Paramedics evaluated the big rig driver at the scene. Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.
The CHP was investigating the fatal collision. Anyone with information was urged to call the San Gorgonio Pass CHP office at 951-846-5300.
