Over 50, And Looking For Fun In Riverside County? Enter The 'Oldlympics'

More than 500 competitors are expected to turn out.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — If you're over 50 and believe you still have what it takes to best the competition, then the "Oldlympics" in Riverside County is for you.

Starting Sept. 15, residents ages 50 and older will be competing in the 40th annual Oldlympics, organized by Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District.

Over 22 days through Oct. 7, participants can compete in up to 20 different events: bench press, billiards, bingo, bowling, chair volleyball, cribbage, Fun-tathlon, golf, hand & foot, horseshoes, pickleball, pinochle, Scrabble, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, tennis, Texas Hold 'em, tournament Blackjack, and track and field.

The events will take place throughout the San Jacinto Valley, and over 500 competitors are expected. A complete schedule of events is available at gorecreation.org.

The Oldlympics will conclude with an Oct. 7 awards banquet at the Michael Paul Gymnasium at Regional Park in San Jacinto.

Registration fees begin at $5 for a single event and go up to $23 for unlimited events. Entrants receive a commemorative T-shirt.
