Pass Area CHP Arrests More Than A Dozen For DUI In Special Op
Stats related to DUI arrests and crashes during the Independence Day holiday period are now in.

BEAUMONT, CA — Officers from the San Gorgonio Area CHP office nabbed more than a dozen people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the recent holiday crackdown, officials tell Patch.
The California Highway Patrol's Independence Day holiday "maximum enforcement period," or MEP, ran from 6:01 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 7.
In the unincorporated areas that fall under the jurisdiction of the Pass Area CHP, a total of 13 people were arrested on suspicion of DUI, according CHP Officer Darren Meyer.

There were 24 crashes during that same time period, some of which resulted in injuries, according to Meyer. There were no deadly wrecks in the CHP's jurisdiction.
During last year's Independence Day MEP, the CHP made 389 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs statewide.
