Pedestrian Killed By Vehicle In Riverside

A man was struck and killed by a vehicle while trying to cross a street in Riverside this morning.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A man was struck and killed by a vehicle while trying to cross a street in Riverside this morning.

The crash was reported at about 10:45 a.m. at Arlington Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Authorities said the pedestrian, who was not identified, sustained major injuries and was taken to Riverside Community Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Investigators said a 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Van Buren Boulevard when the pedestrian walked into the street from the east curb and was hit by the vehicle.

The driver, identified only as a 52-year-old Riverside resident, was uninjured, stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. Authorities have not yet determined if drugs and/or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
