Security Guard Struck By Lightning At Beaumont School
Fire officials say the person was hospitalized on Wednesday afternoon.

BEAUMONT, CA — During a bout of wild, stormy weather in Beaumont on Wednesday afternoon, a person at a Beaumont school was likely hit by lightning, officials report. The incident occurred at Mountain View Middle School around 1:45 p.m.
The Riverside County Fire Department confirms to Patch that the incident "came in as an electrocution call" and the man was rushed to the hospital at 2:21 p.m. He was reportedly in stable condition.
"Upon arrival firefighters evaluated two patients," the fire department later said in a news release. "One patient was transported to a local hospital, by ground ambulance, in stable condition. The second patient was evaluated by paramedics on scene and declined further medical treatment."

School officials say the incident involved security guard who was holding an umbrella, right after dismissal.
The storm dumped heavy rain and hail on the region, while also bringing thunder and lightning and flooding area roadways.
