Police Say Alleged 'Button-Down Bandit' Strikes Again

A suspect wanted in connection with recent bank robberies in Riverside, La Quinta, Seal Beach and Yorba Linda is suspected of robbing a bank in Corona on Friday, according to police.

The so-called Button-down Bandit is now suspected of robbing banks in Corona, Riverside, La Quinta, Seal Beach and Yorba Linda in December and November.

Corona police responded at 3:42 p.m. Dec. 6 to the Bank of America at 2601 Green River Road, CPD  Sgt. Brent Nelson said in a statement.

An FBI agent from Riverside responded and advised the circumstances and photos appear to be the same "button-down bandit" wanted for robbing banks in Riverside and Orange counties, Nelson said.

A white male adult in his 40s, wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, sunglasses, white hat, and a mustache walked into the bank and passed a note demanding money from the teller.

The fearful teller complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash from her drawer. The suspect fled the scene in a silver newer model Mazda 4-door sedan/SUV - west on Green River Road.

The Button-down Bandit is also suspected of the following robberies:

- Dec. 2 2013: U.S. Bank Riverside

- Nov. 27 2013: U.S. Bank La Quinta

- Nov. 25 2013: Bank of America Seal Beach

- Nov. 15 2013: Wells Fargo Yorba Linda

According to the FBI, the Button-down Bandit entered each bank and presented a demand note to the victim teller.

The suspect has made statements including, "Don't make me do it" or "You have thirty seconds." The suspect has passed a note during the robberies demanding denominations of $50s and $100s, suggesting that someone would otherwise get hurt.

The Button-down Bandit is described as a white male with white hair, slender, between 150 to 160 pounds, and 45 to 50 years old.
