Rain, Cold Front Forecast In Banning This Weekend

Rain and chilly conditions were expected to arrive in Riverside County from a storm system moving out of the Pacific Northwest.

BANNING, CA — Potential rain and a cold snap were forecast for the Banning area this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A storm system rolling out of the Pacific Northwest is expected to bring the fall season's first appreciable precipitation to the Inland Empire.

"Cloud coverage is expected to increase into Saturday ahead of a trough of low pressure which will dig south into Western United States this weekend," NWS forecasters wrote. "The incoming low pressure is expected to generate areas of showers for areas in and west of the mountains."

While Friday maintained warmer temperatures in Banning, Saturday was expected to bring partly sunny skies, a high of 64 degrees and south winds pushing 5 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph possible, NWS said. There will be patchy fog and a 40% chance of rain after 11 p.m. with a low of 45 degrees. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph were possible throughout the evening.

Between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of rainfall was expected.

Sunday will bring patchy fog before 11 a.m. Skies will be cloudy throughout the morning, then there will be a gradual clearing with a high of near 65 degrees. Southwest winds will kick up 5 to 10 mph and switch north in the afternoon.

The nighttime lows across the area will hang around the mid-40s.
