Missing Redlands Teen Found

Kate Heinze, 16, was located and reunited with her family.

REDLANDS, CA — The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help finding a Redlands teen who was reported missing.

Kate Heinze, 16, left the campus of Redlands East Valley High School on E. Colton Avenue between 7:50 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. Thursday. She was captured on video about an hour and a half later at the University of Redlands Metro Station.

Investigators learned she was going to take a train to Los Angeles or Colorado. She was last seen arriving at the Los Angeles Union Train Station at approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Heinz was wearing dark sweatpants, a dark-colored t-shirt, a blue backpack, and eyeglasses. She is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall; 140 pounds; blonde hair and blue eyes. (Photos of the teen are above. The second image shows Heinze at the University of Redlands Metro Station.)
