RivCo Man Arrested In Teen's Fatal Shooting: Cops

An 18-year-old man suspected of murdering a 15-year-old in Jurupa Valley Sunday has been arrested.

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — An 18-year-old man suspected of murder in Jurupa Valley has been arrested, authorities said Thursday.

Deputies responded to a hospital in Riverside Sunday around 3:55 p.m. regarding a 15-year-old boy who sustained a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Alberto Loureiro.

Upon further investigation, deputies located and identified Javier Carillo of Riverside as a person of interest on Wednesday and booked him at the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of murder.

Several witnesses at the hospital were interviewed by the responding deputies who also investigated the crime scene in the 10100 block of Ben Nevis Boulevard in Jurupa Valley, Loureiro said.

The victim's identity was not being released due to his age.

The investigation was being handled by the Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station Central Homicide Unit, along with the Coroner's Bureau.
