RivCo Residents To Hike Mt. Rubidoux For Breast Cancer Awareness

The 13th Pink on Parade will offer an opportunity to climb Mt. Rubidoux, see a car show, food and participate in wellness activities.

BANNING, CA — To raise awareness about breast cancer, the 13th annual Pink on Parade will offer Riverside County residents an opportunity to walk up or around Mt. Rubidoux, enjoy a classic car show, visit a survivor's pavilion and more.

The journey will kick off at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 26. when participants can choose either on a 3-mile hike up Mt. Rubidoux — a challenge to represent the cancer journey — or a family-friendly 1-mile loop that encircles the park.

Attendees will meet at Ryan Bonaminio Park, near the foot of Mt. Rubidoux, at 5000 Tequesquite Ave.

Registration for the walk costs $32.80 and includes entry to the car show. The car show alone costs $22.20. All proceeds will go to Pink Ribbon Place, a cancer resource center that provides services for survivors, those newly diagnosed or for families who lost a loved one. Register here.

"When you walk, you are not just raising awareness in our community about breast cancer—it’s actually much more than that. By supporting Pink on Parade, you are helping a mother, daughter, sister, or even neighbor receive vital support," parade organizers said.

During the outing, a survivor pavilion will offer a space for cancer survivors to gather and participate in activities to promote wellness and self-care. A stretch and warm-up area will also be available for those who wish to warm up for their walk.

At the vendor expo, a kid's zone and variety of food and drink options will be available, so attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket for a lunch at the park.

A classic car show will offer a variety of classic cars from the 1940s to the 1980s. And finally, prizes and congratulatory speeches will be announced for the team captains of the event who worked to fundraise and raise awareness.

The event will go from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 26 at Bonaminio Park, 5000 TequesquiteAve.
