Severed Hand Found On Sidewalk In RivCo: Suspect Makes Bail

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A Jurupa Valley man facing mayhem charges, suspected of cutting off another man's hand with a sword, is free after posting bail, the Riverside Police Department reported Saturday.
Officers responded about 10 p.m. May 13 to a report of a severed hand found on the sidewalk near Fifth Street and Fairmont Boulevard, police said.
A man in his 60s checked into a hospital missing a hand around the same time, claiming someone with a sword cut it off, according to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback.

Detectives located and arrested 38-year-old Daniel Dillard of Jurupa Valley Tuesday, Railsback said. Dillard was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for suspicion of mayhem and released the next day on $55,000 bail.
