Skeletal Remains Found In Morongo Basin, ID Pending

WONDER VALLEY, CA — Authorities are working to identify human skeletal remains found last week in the Morongo Basin.

The grim discovery was reported March 20 at Amboy and Shelton roads in the high desert community of Wonder Valley. The sparsely populated unincorporated area of San Bernardino County is in the Morongo Basin, about 10 miles east of Twentynine Palms, just north of Joshua Tree National Park.

Identification of the decedent, as well as the cause and manner of death, is pending an autopsy by the San Bernardino County coroner.

"Further information will be released when available," the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said.
